Why You Need a Portrait

· 123 BOWERY NY, NY

Think about the photo of you that other people actually see. The one on your LinkedIn, the one attached to your work email, the one on the about page you keep meaning to fix. For most of us it's a cropped wedding photo, or a selfie in the car, or a headshot from two haircuts ago.

A good portrait replaces that. And it does more than upgrade a thumbnail.

Sitting for a real photograph is a small act of nerve. You answer a question most people dodge: “this is who I am right now, and I'm fine with it” . Maybe you're an actor and the shot has to book the room. Maybe you started something and the work needs a face. Maybe you just haven't liked a picture of yourself in years and you're tired of that being true.

Everyone should have one photo of themselves they genuinely like. Not filtered. Just true, taken well, ready to hand to the world without a caveat.
